Aston Villa's recent performance has sparked a debate, and it's time to address the elephant in the room. The club's hectic schedule has taken its toll, and now, more than ever, the ownership duo of Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris must step up to support their head coach's vision.
Former Villa defender Stephen Warnock, in a recent Match of the Day appearance, highlighted the need for reinforcement. Despite Villa's impressive 11-game winning streak across all competitions, the last three games have seen a dip in form, with points dropped.
"It's a delicate situation," Warnock explained. "Both managers, especially Unai Emery, are known for their preference for smaller squads. But when you're competing in European competitions, relying on a small group of players is a risky strategy."
And here's where it gets controversial: Warnock believes the solution lies in the transfer market. "They need top-tier talent, not just squad fillers. The aim should be to secure a Champions League spot, and that requires a strong, diverse squad."
But is this the right approach? Should Villa be looking to strengthen their squad mid-season, or is there another strategy at play?
