Kaiser Permanente Partners with RAJ Sports: Revolutionizing Women's Sports Facilities (2026)

RAJ Sports has secured a groundbreaking naming rights partnership for its state-of-the-art women's sports training facility, marking a significant milestone in the world of sports sponsorship. The facility, a joint venture between the Portland Fire and Thorns, will now be known as the Kaiser Permanente Performance Center, thanks to a long-term agreement with the renowned national healthcare provider. But here's where it gets controversial... While financial details remain undisclosed, RAJ Sports is confident this deal is among the most prestigious women's sports sponsorship agreements to date. Legends Global played a pivotal role in facilitating the partnership, while Kaiser Permanente managed their end of the negotiation internally. Mike Whitehead, Managing Director of RAJ Sports, drew from his experience with the Sacramento Kings, an NBA team that successfully integrated Kaiser Permanente into its organization. The shared facility's uniqueness enhanced its appeal, he noted, as it positions the project at the forefront of women's sports innovation. And this is the part most people miss... RAJ Sports plans to appoint a Chief Medical Officer from Kaiser Permanente to oversee the medical aspects of the Thorns and Fire, a move that will elevate the role of medical leadership in women's sports. Kaiser Permanente personnel will serve as team physicians and primary care providers, offering an integrated approach to sports medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, mental health support, and long-term athlete health, all tailored specifically for female athletes. The $75M first phase of the 12-acre Kaiser Permanente Performance Center is set to open in early 2026, serving as a groundbreaking setting for learning how to better care for female athletes. The facility, a redesigned office building by Populous, boasts advanced performance labs, sports science tech, dedicated medical and treatment suites, mental health and wellness spaces, and strength, conditioning, and recovery zones. In total, the project will cost $150M. As part of the deal, Kaiser Permanente will become a Community Game Changer Partner of the Thorns and Fire, supporting initiatives that advance health equity, youth development, and the empowerment of girls and women in the Portland region. Kaiser Permanente will also be the presenting partner of the EmpowHER Awards, RAJ Sports' new women's empowerment initiative, recognizing local community leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
