Melania Trump, in her own words, invites viewers to explore her life, promising an insightful glimpse into her world. However, the reality seems to be quite different. Evidence suggests that the public's interest in Melania's personal life is minimal, contrary to her initial assertion.
The documentary's premiere at one of New York's busiest theaters on Friday was met with a disappointing turnout. Only a handful of non-journalists showed up, with most attendees being critics reviewing the film. This trend was consistent across the country, with executives having to temper their initial predictions for the opening weekend.
"I'm intrigued by the idea of seeing inside the life of someone so famous, especially someone as private as Melania," said Chase, one of the few non-reporters in attendance. "It's a unique opportunity to understand her life, at least to some extent."
Chase, a politically independent 24-year-old, added, "I found it very interesting. She revealed aspects of her life that were previously unknown to the public."
However, the general consensus seems to be that the documentary lacks the allure and intrigue it promised. With a significant portion of the film dedicated to Melania trying on clothes, it fails to deliver the captivating narrative one might expect.
Jim Behrle, a Democrat, admitted, "I went in thinking it would be a funny watch, but I didn't dislike it as much as I anticipated. There were some interesting characters and well-shot scenes."
Behrle, 52, continued, "The film lacks a compelling narrative arc. There's minimal conflict or tension, but the behind-the-scenes footage is intriguing."
Despite his somewhat positive experience, Behrle is unlikely to recommend the documentary, echoing the sentiment that it's "not a gripping film."
And this is where it gets controversial... With a $40 million price tag and an additional $35 million spent on marketing, Amazon's investment in this project is significant. But will it pay off? Or will it be a costly misstep?
