Are you ready to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges in natural resource governance? IMPACT is on the hunt for a Program Coordinator to lead the charge in transforming how we manage resources in high-risk regions—and here’s where it gets exciting: this role is fully remote and open to candidates across the Americas, Africa, and Europe! But here’s where it gets controversial: while the position promises to drive sustainable change, its success hinges on navigating complex donor requirements and ensuring compliance—a balancing act that’s easier said than done. Think you’re up for it?
IMPACT, a dynamic non-profit headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, is seeking a seasoned Program Coordinator to oversee international development programs in Latin America and Francophone West Africa. This full-time, remote role reports directly to the Deputy Executive Director and is pivotal in ensuring projects are executed effectively, meet donor expectations, and align with IMPACT’s mission of strengthening security, promoting development, and advancing equity. And this is the part most people miss: the position’s start date is contingent on donor approval, so IMPACT is proactively building a pipeline of qualified candidates to hit the ground running once funding is secured.
Why This Role Matters
IMPACT operates in regions where natural resources are often tied to security risks, human rights violations, and inequality. Through research, investigation, and programmatic interventions, the organization develops practical solutions that foster sustainable, community-driven change. As Program Coordinator, you’ll be the linchpin connecting national management, project teams, and partners, ensuring everyone is aligned and working toward measurable outcomes. But let’s be real—this isn’t a desk job. You’ll need to juggle project coordination, financial oversight, team leadership, and compliance, all while fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.
Key Responsibilities: What You’ll Own
1. Project Coordination & Quality Assurance (50%): Think of yourself as the orchestra conductor. You’ll communicate project goals, timelines, and deliverables; support managers in crafting detailed plans; monitor progress; and ensure reports are donor-ready. Ever dealt with a project that went off the rails? Here’s your chance to prevent it.
2. Finance, Administration & HR (30%): You’ll keep budgets in check, manage contracts, and support staff development. Controversial question: How do you balance financial accountability with the flexibility needed for innovative solutions?
3. Team Support & Organizational Stewardship (20%): From mentoring staff to championing IMPACT’s policies, you’ll build a culture of trust and accountability. But here’s the kicker: How do you ensure compliance without stifling creativity?
What You’ll Bring to the Table
- A degree in Social Sciences, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- At least 8 years managing international development projects and 5 years leading diverse teams.
- Proven experience with donor compliance (Global Affairs Canada, EU, USAID, etc.).
- Fluency in English and French, with working Spanish proficiency.
- Bold statement: If you’ve worked in natural resource governance or artisanal mining, you’re already ahead of the curve.
Why Join IMPACT?
Beyond a competitive salary, you’ll join a mission-driven team spanning six countries, tackling global challenges with diverse perspectives. But here’s the real question: Can you thrive in a fast-paced, intercultural environment where adaptability and integrity are non-negotiable?
How to Apply
Send your cover letter (max 2 pages) and CV (max 3 pages) to emailprotected by 9 February 2026. Pro tip: Make your application stand out by highlighting your experience with Results-Based Management or complex donor relationships.
Final Thought
IMPACT’s work is transformative, but it’s not without its challenges. As you consider applying, ask yourself: Are you ready to lead with integrity, navigate ambiguity, and drive meaningful change? If so, this role might just be your next big adventure. What’s your take? Do you think compliance and innovation can coexist in international development? Share your thoughts in the comments—we’d love to hear from you!
