The series, adapted from Jin Yucheng's novel, is a captivating tale of ambition and fate set in the vibrant 1990s Shanghai. It chronicles the rise of Ah Bao, a regular Joe who, with the guidance of influential figures, transforms into the wealthy and influential 'Mr. Bao'. But as he ascends, a mysterious woman's arrival threatens to shatter his world, exploring the delicate interplay of success, nostalgia, and desire.
Starring Hu Ge, Ma Yili, Tang Yan, Xin Zhilei, and You Benchang, the series premiered in China over two years ago, leaving international fans eager for its arrival. Wong Kar Wai, celebrated for his iconic films like 'Chungking Express', 'In the Mood for Love', and '2046', is known for his visually stunning and emotionally rich storytelling.
